Loyd J. Adams, Jr., 76, Seneca died at 10:12 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2001 at his home following an apparent heart attack.

Mr. Adams was born Nov. 10, 1924, at Neosho, MO, the son of Loyd J. Adams, Sr. and Bertha Irene Bragg Adams. He served in the US Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Seneca American Legion and Disabled Veterans. He served on the Seneca City Council for several years and served as Mayor of Seneca for 10 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Seneca.

He married Bernice Hoff, March 26, 1946, and she survives. Additional survivors include three sons, John M. Adams, James L. Adams, and Steven L. Adams, all of Seneca; one daughter, Mary Ann Nutting, Miami, OK; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services, under direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, were at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Seneca. Rev. John Harth officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Seneca.

Pallbearers were David Frye, Tom Hodge, Sid Poor, Bryan Cook, Mike Kelly and Garyt Roark. Honorary pallbearers were Glen Rosiere, Peter Peterson, Jim Brady, All Higginbotham and C.R. Brownen.

Military graveside rites were conducted by American Legion Post 163, Neosho, MO.
