VILENA E. CAREY, 92, of Fort Wayne, died on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Englewood Heath & Rehab Center. Born in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late Hugo and Gladys Herbst. She was a homemaker and attended First Missionary Church. She and her husband volunteered 16 years with the RVICS a Christian organization which traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada. She is survived by her husband of 65 1/2 years, Lester Carey; daughters, Laurenna (Neil) Rinehart of Yoder, Pam (Doug) Barcalow of Fort Wayne, Maridell (Mike) Mosbrucker of Avilla, and JaNean (LeWayne) Fisher of Providence, Rhode Island; sisters, Leora Adams of New Haven and Karen Plante of Phoenix, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchil dren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bernadine Adams. Memorial service is 1 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling two hours prior. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association , New Hope Hospice or Waynedale United Methodist Church. www.covingtonmemorial.com
