Adam J. Gossman was born in Van Buren Township, Hancock County, Ohio on May 5, 1858 to Conrad and Margaret Ann (Beach) Gossman (an only child). He married Catharine Bower on May 6, 1879. To this union three (3) children were born: Anna Mary on November 3, 1879, Emma Eva on February 1, 1882 and Adam Andy (Anton) on November 22, 1884. Catharine died of tuberculosis on January 13, 1892. He then married Caroline Fredericke "Callie" Baumunk on July 19, 1894. To this union three (3) children were born: Clara Margaret on April 7, 1895, Henry August on August 20, 1899 and John Conrad on May 25, 1903. Caroline Fredericke "Callie" died of Meningitis on January 14, 1905. He then married Emma Rose Houser on September 27, 1906 in Kenton, Ohio. Adam was 48 years old and Emma Rose was 33 years old. To this union, one son was born, Henry on August 25, 1918 and he died four (4) hours later, being a premature birth.
Adam was a farmer and a bank director of the Jenera Bank. He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church near Jenera.
Adam died of Urine Carcinoma and Bladder Cancer on Sunday, January 19, 1930 in his home in Jenera, Ohio at the age of 71. He is survived by his third wife, Emma Rose; five (5) grandchildren (all born to Emma Eva, who married Melvin Kennedy on July 13, 1905 and died of tuberculosis on July 24, 1918) and one (1) great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first two (2) wives' and all seven (7) of his children.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 22nd at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. A. W. Bauman officiating. Bural will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
