Mr. Callis was a retired carpenter and a World War II veteran serving in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He was born in Greenbrier May 8, 1918, to the late James Henry and Nannie Luella Zink Callis.
He is also preceded in death by a brother, David Martin Callis and a sister, Mamie Briggs and a nephew, Mike Callis. Survivors include his wife, Mattie Lee Simmons Callis of Greenbrier; a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Robyn Callis of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Robert Hall of Springfield; two grandchildren; a nephew. Pallbearers for the service included Sammy Patton, David Glenn, Tony Cobb, Robert Hall, Bobby Hall and Larry Simmons.
