Martha Ann Dunlap Germond House was born in Buckrun, Union County, Ohio, a daughter of William A. Dunlap and Sarah Jane Milligan. Both of her parents died before her 10th birthday. She married first Charles Henry Germond 23 June 1877 in Allen Co., Indiana. It is not known how they met. Mr. Germond was born and lived in southern Michigan, but his father had lived in the area of Ohio where Martha was born. Possibly they met when Mr. Germond was in Ohio to visit his grandparents. They lived in Michigan and had two children, Granville William "Willie" Germond and Irene (Germond) Wolf. Charles Henry Germond died in 1899 in Benzie Co., Michigan. On 23 May 1906, she married John David House, a man 17 years her junior, in Petoskey, Emmet Co., Michigan. She was married to Mr. House at the time of her death.
