Margueritte L. Wesley, 99, of Mission Viejo, Calif., formerly of Elwood, died March 30, 2012, at her home in Mission Viejo, just 12 days shy of her 100th birthday. Private burial will take place at the Elwood Cemetery, with a family memorial service to be in Elwood at a later date. A memorial has been established. Margueritte L. Wesley, age 99 of Mission Viejo, Calif., formerly of Elwood, died March 30, 2012 at her home in Mission Viejo just 12 days shy of her 100th birthday.

A private burial will take place in the Elwood Cemetery, with a family memorial service to be held in Elwood at a later date.

Margueritte was born at Elwood on April 12, 1912, the only daughter to Grant and Alta (Call) Simpson. She graduated from Elwood High School in 1930 and attended Kearney State Teacher's College where she met and eloped with Clarence Wesley. She taught school in Klamath Falls, Ore., during World War II. She later attended Northwest Pacific Dental College and became a dental hygienist with the Air Force for 15 years. She also served as a supply officer for civil service during the Vietnam War. She retired from McClelland Air Force Base.

After retirement, she volunteered and spoke all over Sacramento County against child abuse. She was a lifetime member of NARFE and also wrote a column for them on Alzheimer's. She served as the prayer chairman for many years for the Citrus Heights Friends Church.

Survivors include her children, Bonnie (Ken) Reynolds of Citrus Heights, Calif.; Judy (Chet) Okonski of Silverado, Calif., and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Wesley and two daughters, Barbara Foulk and Beverly Wechsler.

Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
