On August 16, 1837 James married Margaret Ann Beaty, in Morgan County, Ohio.

James was the ninth of ten children.

James and Margaret had 8 children:
(1) Mary Jane (#11563130)
(2) Susan Frances
(3) James Thomas
(4) Caleb "Cale" Harrison
(5) William Alexander "Alex"
(6) David Robert
(7) Emma Louise
(8) John Douglas

Occupation: Farmer

Note: In their final years (before 1900) James & Margaret moved in with their son John Douglas & his wife Lydia. (John & Lydia lived in Manchester Township, Morgan County, Ohio.)
