Moved to Madison County about 1902. Worked much of his life as a farmer and retired as a machinist from Delco-Remy. Married at least twice, first to Ada Pearl "Addie" Simpson and later to Myrtle who had also been married previously.

Anderson (Ind) Herald obituary, Wed. October 22, 1952:

John L. Conder, 78, of 625 Milton Ave., died at 10 a.m. yesterday at his home, following an illness of several months. The body was taken to Baker Brothers Funeral Home. Other funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Mr. Conder was a retired Delco-Remy Division mechanic. He was a native of Owen County and had lived here for the past 50 years.

Surviving are the widow Mrs. Myrtle Conder, a step-daughter, Mrs. Jessie Vogel, Anderson, and a brother, Joseph Conder of LaJunta, Colorado [obituary mistakenly said Calif.].
