Confederate Military Man and later a grocer in Denver. Enlisted in 9th Missouri Cavalry at Brunswick, Missouri, in 1862 and served until 1865. His unit served in C. Green's brigade of the Trans-Mississippi department and battled at Helena and Bayou Forche; then became part of the 10th Missouri Cavalry in 1864. Skirmished with Union forces in Arkansas; disbanded in 1865. Relocated to Denver, Arapahoe County, Kansas Territory by 1870 as seen in the Federal Census of 1870 for Denver.

Note concerning conflicting information:
There are two grave markers for Isaac Brinker, a upright military headstone for his service in the Confederate Army and a horizontal family headstone that has his date of birth as 7 Dec 1816 which is the date appearing in his obituary published on Monday 2 Feb 1903 in the Denver Post. It states, Isaac Brinker, who died Saturday night (i.e., 30 Jan 1903) at the home of his son was 87 years old and born near Middleton, Virginia. Middleton is in Frederick County. The first notice of his death was published on 1 Feb 1903 in The Denver Rocky Mountain News stating "in the death of Isaac Brinker last evening Denver had lost another one of its early settlers." It went on to say "Mr. Brinker was 87 years old December 7 last and had resided in Denver since March 1866."
