Captain Laurence Bondy was mortally wounded during the "Pied des rapides de la riviere des miamis battle, War of 1812. His son was taking him back to Assumption when he died while crossing the Detroit River.

Parish registry indicates that on 8 May 1813, was buried Laurent Bondy, Militia Captain, who died the day before yesterday at La Pointe aux Raisins, from wounds he had received the day before in the battle of du Pied des Rapides de la Riviere des Miamis. Aged approx. 45 yrs old.)
