Catharine was the daughter of Robert Pollard and Susan Howle. She first married William Dandridge C. Wade about 1835. He was born in New Kent County about 1815, and died there about 1854. They had at least seven children. She then married the Rev. Henry Morris Ammons in Henrico County on 11 April 1861.

Catherine died of "Spasms," per Cemetery records, and is buried in the Porter Binford plot near her sons William and James.
