Born in Dornberg, Westfalen, Prussia on 9 Feb 1841 to Johann Hermann Strothenke and Anna Marie Ilsebein Kopp. She came to the US about 1854, and married Adam Bloedel in 1866. They had seven children: Ana (1867), Ida (1868), Henry (1870), Herman (1872), Henrietta (1873), Emilie (1875) and Edward (1878). Henrietta, Henry, and Edward died in childhood, and are buried in the Heinrich Bloedel plot at Union Cemetery on Teutonia. Though her headstone gives her birth year as 1844, her birth and christening dates are recorded as 9 Feb and 14 Feb 1841, respectively.
