Bridgeport ~ Marjorie Aaron Mitchell, 89, a retired school teacher, crossed over the morning of April 1st, 2012 in Bridgeport.

Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 7th at the First United Methodist Church of Roby with burial in Roby Cemetery. Family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home in Rotan, Texas.

Marjorie was born on July 16, 1922 to J.H. and Avis (Howell) Aaron at her grandparent's home in Rotan. She graduated from Rotan High School in 1939 and graduated from McMurry College (now University) in 1944. During WWII, she worked in the aircraft industry as an accountant in Dallas. When the war ended, she returned to Rotan to teach. Marjorie was united in marriage to Frank K. Mitchell who was a Fisher County farmer and returning veteran on February 14, 1948. They farmed and raised cattle 3 miles southeast of Roby until Frank's death in 1998. Frank was also the long time ASCS, now FSA, office manager for Fisher County.

Marjorie was a director for the Girl Scouts in the 1950's then returned to teaching in Roby. She was always very active in 4H, Girl Scouts, The Fisher County Historical Commission and her great love, the First United Methodist Church in Roby. She was a loving mother to her two daughters, Sharon and Barbara. Marjorie spent her last few years in Bridgeport to be close to her daughter, Barbara; was very active at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur; and resided at Residence of Senior Care in Bridgeport.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her son in law, Lee Swan; her grandson, Charles Swan; and her brother James A. Aaron.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Holston and husband Dr. Robert of Cross Plains, Tennessee and Barbara Swan of Alvord; 5 grandchildren, Michelle Holston Short and husband Gary Robert of Celina, Tennessee, Robert Holston, Jr. and wife Barri of Helena, Alabama, Jeremy Frank Holston of Cross Plains, Tennessee, Jennifer Marie Waid and husband Adam of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Richard Curtiss Swan of Ypsilanti, Michigan; 7 great grandchildren, Mitchell, Chelsea, Kanyon, and Kalina Short, Barrett Ann and Knox Holston, and Tyler Holston; her sister in law, Dora Dee Mitchell of Abilene; her brother in law, Foy L. Mitchell of Sweetwater; other family members and a host of friends.
