Augustus Albert "Gus" Altgelt, Jr. age 83 of San Antonio went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 31, 2012. He was born February 13, 1929 to Augustus Albert and Nellie Mae Altgelt.

He attended Texas A & I University, Kingsville, TX and San Antonio Junior College. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U. S. Air Force from 1950 to 1953. Mr. Altgelt was the owner of Altgelt and Altgelt Insurance and Real Estate Agency since 1955. He retired in 1995.

He was president of the 20-30 Suburban Club. He was also a member of the San Antonio Insurance Exchange. Mr. Altgelt organized the San Antonio Junior Chamber of Commerce Christmas Shopping Tour 1961. His family laid out streets of the King William area and were responsible for Randolph Air Force Base location; they also founded Comfort, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Claire Fetzer Altgelt, his parents, his infant son, Augustus Albert Altgelt, III and sister, Mary Bess Fain.
