Quentin Walseth was born September 5, 1910 in Eagle Bend, MN. He died at home under the loving care of family and hospice on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the age of 99 years, 102 days.

Quentin graduated from Eagle Bend High School and then from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN in 1933. Upon graduation from college, Quentin held a variety of
jobs, including teaching school in Detroit Lakes, MN. In 1941, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served during WWII.

While stationed in Northern Ireland he met his Irish bride. Quentin and Vera Ferris were married in Seattle, Washington in December of 1947. While living in Seattle, Quentin worked as a bookkeeper. In 1954 Quentin and family moved to Frazee to work for his father at Peoples State Bank in Frazee. He worked at the bank until he retired at the young age of 75.

Quentin's mantra was one of giving. A resident of Frazee from 1954 until his death, Quentin served as President of the Bank, and as a long time member of the Frazee United Methodist Church, served as church treasurer and historian. Quentin was a civic-minded person, serving as a leader of the Frazee Community Club, a Turkey Day parade chairman, was a member of the Frazee Lions Club, and was one of the founders of the Frazee Care Center and developers of the Assisted Living facility. He also served on the board of directors of the Becker County HRA. More recently, he was one of the initiators of Neighbor to Neighbor and just completed eight years on its Board of Directors. Being a World War II veteran, he was proud to participate on an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. on
his 97th birthday. Giving of himself, even in death, his body was donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest program.

Quentin enjoyed traveling, visiting family and friends, collecting stamps and coins, and working on his computer. He was also a walker, gardener of sorts, and a good friend to many.

As well as a servant of the church and community, Quentin was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Quentin was preceded in death by his wife Vera, brother Marvin and sister Helen. He is survived by his son Dennis Walseth (Wanda) of Moorhead, MN; daughters Donna Walseth Shaheen (Bill) of Minneapolis; Christina Walseth of Albuquerque, NM; Karin Lindberg (Paul) of Kandern, Germany; and Margaret Chaney (Jerry) of Salt Lake City, UT. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters.

His memory will be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. Memorial services will be at Frazee United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Sunday,
December 20. Visitation with the family will be one hour preceding the worship. A reception will follow the service.
