Eloda was born to Charles Reuben Minor and Alice Lodema Bancroft Minor at Menomonee, Menomonee County, Wisconsin. Shortly after her birth her parents moved to Diamond, Cherokee County, Iowa. At the age of 21 (1893) at Canton, Lincoln County, South Dakota she married Luther Anson Jackson. They were the parents to 14 children. The first two sons, Calvin and Guy, did not survive infancy.
In about 1907 they were living at Pennington, South Dakota where Luther had filed on homestead land. By 1910 Eloda had returned to Fairview, Lincoln County, SD. Being unable to care and feed all of her children, she placed all except the older ones in the Souix Falls South Dakota Children's Home. From there they were adopted.
Luther died on Sept 13, 1917 and is buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown, Coddington Co., South Dakota. Eloda married Frank Welch about 1924 at Sioux City, Iowa and he died in 1943. Then late in 1944 she married Levi James Blake.
Eloda was reunited with most of her children and a large family reunion was held at a Souix Falls, SD park. She died on Nov 6, 1945 at Sioux City, Iowa.
