Mrs. Hicks was born in Greenwood, SC, a daughter of Martin O. and Geneva Derrick Black.
She was a retired as a school teacher from Irmo High School, having taught chemistry for 30 years.
Mrs. Hicks was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, St. Matthews.
Survivors include her husband, John William Hicks of the home; daughters Luanne (Terry) Rodgers of Charleston and Kay (John) Knepper of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren Emily Knepper and Allen Knepper; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, April 3, 2012 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, St. Matthews, SC. Burial will follow at the West End Cemetery.
