Alvin Elmer Ackerman was born August 4, 1927 in Mound City, SD to Jacob and Bertha (Klingman) Ackerman.
Alvin joined the United States Army on January 4, 1946 at Fort Snelling, MN. He was a Military Policeman and was honorably discharged on April 22, 1947.
He married Pearl Wilma Schott on January 17, 1950 in Selby, SD. They made their home on a farm north of Java in Campbell County. In 1964 they moved to Mobridge where Alvin went to work as a mechanic for the Hepper - Kluckman Dealership until 1980.
In 1980 they moved to Lemmon SD where he worked for Lemmon Auto as a mechanic. In 1987 they moved back to Mobridge where he has since resided. Alvin was a master of organization.
He enjoyed visiting with his friends and working on cars in his garage. He worked for the City of Mobridge at Scherr-Howe Auditorium.
Alvin was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mobridge.
Alvin is survived by two sons,two grandsons,brother,and a sister.
He was preceded in death by is parents, his wife Pearl January 8, 2012, and one infant son.
