She was the youngest of five children. She moved with her family to a ranch near Wanblee in 1928. She attended rural schools and graduated from Pine Ridge Boarding School.
On May 2, 1936, Evelyn and Walter Stone united in marriage at Martin. They resided at Pine Ridge where Walter was a shop instructor at the Pine Ridge Boarding School. In 1942, they moved to Rapid City where she has resided since.
Evelyn enjoyed doing handcrafts, sewing, playing cards, and golfing. She was a past member of the Elk Club Does, Hospital Red Cross Volunteer, Canyon Lake Senior Center, Christmas Club, Make Today Count and Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Shirlee A. Stone, Minneapolis, Judith D. Shelton and Carol J. Carper, both of Denver, and Stephanie (Jerry) Sharp, Long Valley; eight grandchildren, Jill Boos, Bart Smith, Mahle Smith, Brett Shelton, Carrie Shelton, Jacob Carper, Jessica Pappas, and Tyler Sharp; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Stone; parents, Alex and Charlotte Livermont; three brothers, Oliver Livermont, Sylvester Livermont, LeRoy Livermont, and sister, Viola Means Adams.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be Wednesday, April 4, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Richard Ressler officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City.
