BUCKMAN, JAMES P. "BUCK," 91, peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father February 20, 2013, surrounded by his children and beloved caregiver Peggy. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and a former president of Catholic Golden Age. Jim graduated from St. George High School, Chicago IL, and proudly served in the 788th Petroleum Distribution Unit of the European Theatre during World War II. He retired from Dupont with 30 years of service. His hobbies included reading, woodworking, and ceramics. He greatly enjoyed volunteer work at Mount St. Francis and the Franciscan Shelter House soup kitchen. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years Alice; siblings Devota, Fabian, John, and infant son Gerard. He is survived by his children Phil (Betty), Amanda Kuhlman (Jim), Steve (Cookie), Joe, Mary Poore, Paul (Melanie) and Becky (Ralph Duncan); 11 grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday from 3-8 p.m. at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 5431 Johnsontown Rd., with burial in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, 1153 Charles St. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus of Louisville, 3532 Ephrain McDowell Dr. 40205, or The Right to Life organization.
