GEORGE AMIDON Obituary - The writer of the following obituary died at his home on the Brooklynside last week Friday. Before going on he made all preparation for the event and wrote the following article for publication with the request that it be put in the Reporter. I, George Amidon was born in Shongo, Allegany County N.Y. on July 11th, in the year 1855, being the youngest of nine children of Joseph and Lucy (Jones) Amidon. I came to Port Allegany the year I was twenty-one. When I was twenty-five I married Lestina Grimes who was left a widow with three children, two boys, George and Scott, and one girl Hester. Our union was blessed with two girls, Lottie and Mabel who were always a joy and blessing to us. Wife and I have stood by each other through sunshine and rain, through sickness and pain and I leave my love to her and all the children, which is about all I can leave for them, but I would ask my neighbors one and all, who have been so kind to me in my sickness and suffering, to extend their kindness and sympathy to my dear wife and children whom I grieve to leave. It is hard to part with friends and loved ones and may God bless you all in my prayer. As I believe this to be my last sickness I take this opportunity to bid farewell to my dear wife and children and neighbors. God is good and I have put my trust in Him. Farewell. George Amidon
