William David Cashin
William David Cashin

William David Cashin, age 89, died peacefully on March 28, 2012 surrounded by his children. A native of Chicago, he joined Hercules Powder Company in 1951. Prior to his retirement from Hercules Incorporated in 1983, he was Director of the Explosives & Nitrogen business center. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a naval aviator and ships navigator serving in the Pacific.

Bill was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Carol, in 2008; siblings Grace, Jeanne, Byron, Morgan, twin sister Betty and parents, David and Anna. Survivors include his son Robert (Connie) of Indiana, daughters, Elizabeth Tosi (A. Michael) of Hockessin, Susan McLaughlin (Martin) of Newark and Kathleen Perrott (Ronald) of Belleair, FL; grandchildren, Erin Shepherd (Charles), Jordan McLaughlin (Rachel), Lauren and Michael Tosi, Cameron and Dana Perrott, Shawn, Joy, Cory and William Cashin and great grandsons, Colin and Kieran Shepherd.

The family would like to thank Compassionate Care Hospice and the staff at Forwood Manor, especially those in assisted living, for their compassionate care.

Mass will be offered at 11:00 am on Monday April 2, 2012 at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington where friends may call beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Rd., Newark, DE 19713.
