Blodgett Mills

Harvey Sholes, an aged and respected resident of this place, passed away after a brief illness of pneumonia early Sunday morning.  The funeral services were held at the house at 2 p.m. today, Rev. J. Gillard officiated.  Burial in Forest Hill cemetery.

Mr. Sholes was born in Plymouth, Madison Co., and removed here with his parents in 1840, settling upon the farm now owned by Isaac Sherman.  There were eleven children in his father’s family and Mr. Sholes has lived to see all but one laid at rest.  The surviving sister, Mrs. Julia Tisdale of Cortland.

He was married to Miss Sarah Frost who has been dead for some years, leaving two sons, Henry Sholes of McGraw and R. D who has with his wife lived with him until the death of the son, since which time Mr. Sholes, who has been badly broken in health, have been cared for by his son’s wife, Mrs. R. D. Sholes.  Mr. Sholes was for several years a constable of this town and was very well known throughout the country
