Henry Leon Fox, the first born son of Joseph Walter Fox and Roxie Cornelia Watson was born on May 22, 1901 in Bellefontaine, Webster County, Mississippi.

On January 11, 1928 he married Lora May Cobb in Calhoun, Mississippi. Together they had three daughters, Barbara Jo "Bobbi", Martha Lou, and Sybil Louise and one son, Billy Joe Fox.

He was a soft spoken man, with a wonderful smile; referred to as the "Gray Ghost" at Parchman, Mississippi State Penitentiary where he was the foreman/ supervisor of camp seven until he retired.
