Navy Captain
John E. Faigle, 86, a retired Navy captain who later worked in a family real estate management business, died of cancer March 9 at Bethesda Naval Hospital.
Capt. Faigle, a resident of Chevy Chase, was born in Dayton, Ohio. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis in 1927 and received a master's degree in civil engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
He was a Navy civil engineer throughout his career, and he served at various posts in this country and also at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. He was stationed in Washington when he retired in 1946.
Capt. Faigle then worked in the real estate business until retiring in the mid-1970s.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Faigle of Chevy Chase; two children, John N. Faigle of Chevy Chase and Jeffrey D. Faigle of Pennington, N.J.; two sisters, Marie Smith of Richmond and Elizabeth Humig of Cedar Grove, Ind.; and four grandchildren.
