James "Jim" H. Gardner, 85, of Bellefonte, passed away at Mount Nittany Medical Center on Monday, September 18, 2017. Jim was born on April 24, 1932, in Bellefonte, the son of the late Henry C. and Emma M. Wian Gardner.

Jim is survived by his wife, the former Gloria J. Pardoe Gardner, having been married for 66 years. He also survived by his sons, James C. (Christine) Gardner, of Allensville, Raymond K. "Cheese" (Cheryl) Gardner, of rural Bellefonte, David L. (LuAnn) Gardner, of Sanford, N.C. and Charles J. "Chuck" Gardner, of State College; his daughter, Peggy F.( Daniel) Boring, of Unionville; his 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his sister Fay E. Runkle, of Silver Cliffs, Colo.

Jim was a Crain Operator at Cerro Metal Products in Bellefonte having retired July 25, 1997. Jim was a member of Milesburg United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jim was a die-hard Philadelphia and Penn State sports fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel L. Boring.

Family and friends will be received at the Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Jacksonville Road, Howard on Sunday, October 22, 2017, from 1-3 p.m. Burial will be in Schencks Cemetery, Howard Township, Centre County, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg.
