Stella, also born in Schuylkill County, arrived in 1911. Baptized at St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church in Minersville, she married Vincent F. Hock there on February 28, 1933. Together, they had three children: Patricia Ann Hock (1933-1969), Vincent Jr., and Susie. Long-time residents of Pottsville, the Hocks shared their home with Stella's mother, Rose, until Rose's death in 1962. Stella's father, Jan (also known as "John"), had been an explosives expert for a coal mine before he was felled by black lung disease in 1942.
A graduate of the Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing, Stella had a long and successful career as a licensed practical nurse, working at the Pottsville Hospital and Pottsville's Warne Clinic prior to her retirement in 1975.
A lifelong celebrant at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Pottsville, she was also a member of the Catholic Women's Union.
