There is confusion as to the spelling of this man's name: Boden, Bowden, Bowdoin, Bardon, and Borden. Apparently the Old Folks Home did not know much about him. MHB

James Wright BODEN was born in Beverly, Mass.,August 11,1843; he was the son of Porter D. and Christiana BODEN.

James W. BOWDOIN, an 18 year-old cordwainer residing in Beverly, Mass., enlisted on Sept 20, 1861 as a Private; on Sept 28 he mustered into C."G", MA 23rd Infantry. He re-enlisted on Dec 2, 1863. He was Mustered Out on June 25, 1865, at Expiration of Service, at New Berne, N.C. (Civil War Data System-name spelled BOWDOIN)

At the age of 33, James W. BOWDOIN of Beverly, Mass., a trader by occupation, married Sarah A.A. Perry of Salem, Mass.(daughter of Albert and Mary Perry)
James and Sarah were married in Marblehead,Mass., February 14, 1878, by the Rev. Clopon of Marblehead. They resided in Beverly.
James was a member of GAR Post#89, Beverly.

James BORDEN, 82, died of a cerebral hemmorhage, October 6, 1927, in Beverly,Mass. At the time of his death he was 82, retired and residing at the City Home, 18 Cedar St., Beverly.
