Funeral services for Eli Danner were held Thursday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the Huggins Funeral home with Rev. H. M. Bloomer officiating. Burial was in the Abingdon cemetery.
Music was cared for by Mrs. Lowell Whitsett, accompanied by Mrs. C. B. Holstein.
Casket bearers were Dean Allen, Leland Ryan, V. L. Johnson, E. I. Blevins, A. J.Hobbs and Harry Helander
Eli Danner was born in Hanover county, Pa., June 8, 1857, the son of Henry and Margaret Danner. He was one of a family of seven children, four brothers and two sisters. Of this family two brothers survive, Jonas Danner of Astoria and C. R. Danner of Creston, Ia.
Mr. Danner's early life was spent near Astoria where he was engaged in farming. He attended the Dunkard church of Astoria. He married Ida Schisler at Vermont, April 29, 1900, after which they lived near Abingdon. To this union were born three children, Cline Danner of Abingdon, Gordon Danner of Avon and Leo Danner of Peoria.
He was very ambitious and never tired of doing for those near to him. His interest was always in his home.
There were two children by Mr. Danner's first marriage, Mrs. Clarence Guiter of Abingdon and Noah Danner of Adair, deceased. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren besides a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Danner died Nov. 27, aged 88, at the Moline hospital where he had been a patient over two years.
