John A. Kilpatrick, aged and highly respected citizen of Venango county died January 2 at his home near Crawford's Corners, Scrubgrass township. Son of William and Elizabeth Anderson Kilpatrick, born in Centre county, Pa., April 5, 1824, thus nearing his 82d year at the time of his death. Scotch-Irish ancestry, his parents coming to U.S. from Bally Tibbet, County Antrim, Ireland, in 1819 and locating in Centre county. In 1826 they moved to Venango county and in 1830 settled on what is now known as the Melvin Phipps farm. For eighty years he resided in Venango county. For the past nineteen years at the farm at Crawford's Corners. Democrat... Presbyterian church, ruling elder at Clintonville.... 1895 family reunion... 1898 golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Kilpatrick was celebrated. Married Nancy Surenna February 22, 1848, who, with the following children survive: Mrs. W. A. Miller, of Simpson, McKean county; Mrs. W. B. Moore of Kennerdell; Mrs. W. D. Bunce and Mrs. W. J. Currin of Franklin; Philip M. of Brushcreek; Mrs. J. E. Craig of Verona, Allegheny county, and William M. at home. Also by two sisters: Mrs. Eliza Calvert of Worcester county, Maryland, and Miss Margaret R. Kilpatrick of Clintonville.


John and Nancy had eight children: Ann Grace, Elizabeth (1849-1926) married to William A. Miller; William M., Margaret Grace, Julia, Mary Jane (b. 1859) married to William J. Curran, Phillip M., and Nancy Louella.
