MOUNT AIRY, NC ~ Mrs. Mavis Carolyn Inman Chilton, 81, of Norman Road, Mount Airy, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born Dec. 25, 1924, in Surry County to John Inman and Donnie Arrington Inman. Mrs. Chilton was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Woodville Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chilton was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Chilton; and a sister, Opal Holt. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jack Gill of Pulaski, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Mitch and Kristina Chilton of Pawleys Island, S.C.; grandchildren, Laura Gill and fiance Matthew Coffey, Christine Gill, Conner Chilton, Spencer Chilton and Gavin Chilton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence and Carl Saylor of Winston-Salem, Rada and Billy Martin of Mount Airy and Bernice and Wayne Goins of Greensboro; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gaither Inman of Mount Airy, Cabot and Vilena Inman of Troy, Bernie and Barbara Inman of Mount Airy and Larry and Ann Inman of Greensboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Woodville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Keith Love and the Rev. Terrie Sternberg officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Chilton will be placed in the church one hour before the service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, Aug. 25, at Howell-Nelson Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to Woodville Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Sandra Martin, 714 Norman Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
