I just received the newspaper article below. It is from an L.A. paper the evening of the crash.
TWO DIE AS STUNTING SHIP HITS POWER LINE
LOS ANGELES, Mar. 19
Two men were killed when their light
monoplane crashed into a power line
and fell in flames in a suburban section
today.
Sheriff's deputies identified them as Bob
Grett, 30, pilot, and Samuel Hogan, 36.
Botha Heilbron, who saw the crash, said the
men apparently were stunting.
According to his death cert, he died in Compton, Los Angeles county. In 1939 this was a small community and wide open spaces in the countryside. His brother John was the informant on the certificate.
