Hazel (always called Irene), was a twin to Gerald Marshall Davison. Her mother died when the twins were just a few days old. Her grandmother, Georgianna Marshall took care of the twins until her father remarried.

On April 4, 2002, Irene moved to her heavenly home to spend eternity with the Lord she loved and served. She and her twin brother were born on April 25, 1908 in Aurelius, MI. Her parents were Clarence and Hazel (Marshall) Davison. Both, her mother and first stepmother, died as a result of child birth, but the Lord blessed her with a second stepmother, Grace Davison.

After completing high school in Union City, MI, she graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL.

She married George L. Lyon, on August 2, 1929, in Ross, IN, where he served as a pastor. Irene and her husband served as missionaries in Kenya, Africa, for nearly 40 years, having first gone there in 1934.

After returning to America in the early 70's they continued to work and serve the Lord in various capacities. Since July 1994, Irene has resided in Look Out Mountain, GA, with a daughter.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents and her twin brother Gerald Davison; her daughter-in-law Diane Lyon; her son-in-law Arthur Krestan; and a granddaughter Deborah Wenger.

She is survived by her four children, Elliot (Barbara) Lyon, of Jacksonville, FL, Grace Krestan, of Crown Point, IN, Herbert (Ruth) Lyon, currently in Bangalore, India and Faith (Jerry) Wenger, of Look Out Mtm., GA. There are also 11 remaining grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

The Aurelius Baptist Church supported the Lyon family in their mission work.
