Mrs. Schell Dead At 98- West Virginia Native Dies In Nursing Home- Mrs. Alice J. Schell, 98, died at the Bowles Nursing Home Monday evening. She had lived for many years with a son, Wade, of Rt. 1 Darlington, before moving to the nursing home on September 23 of last year. She had been bedfast since January. Mrs. Schell was born March 23, 1865 in Grant County, W. Va., the daughter of Charles and Susan Veatch. She married Israel Schell in West Virginia, and they moved to Tippecanoe County in 1905. Mr. Schell owned a farm near Kirkpatrick until his death in 1919. Mrs. Schell had lived with her son since 1922. She was the last of her family, having been preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Survivors, beside her son, include one grandson, a granddaughter, and six great-grandchildren. She had been preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Douglas. Private funeral services will be held at Bright Funeral Home, Darlington, at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. John T. Waye, of the Congregational Christian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery south of Lafayette. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Tuesday.
