Sarah E Boone was the daughter of Hayden Boone and Emaline Roberta Callaway Boone. She was the great-great granddaughter of the famous explorer Colonel Daniel Boone.

On September 01, 1858 Sarah married the widower Campbell Marshall in Warren County, Missouri. He was the son of William and Catherine Marshall of Virginia. Campbell and his family were born in Virginia, and were early settlers of Warren County, Missouri. Campbell had first married Josephine Lamme in 1856, who had died only four months after their marriage.

Sarah and Campbell were the parents of William H (who only lived 18 days), Joel Sterling, and John Boone Marshall. Sarah died on October 5, 1869. Soon after, Campbell married Mary A Carter who finished raising Joel and John. The couple also had Henry C., Marvin Carter, and Jessie.
