Albert Joseph "Jay" Banther Jr., 67, of McDonald, TN, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012. He was the son of the late Albert Joseph Banther Sr. and Lorene Banther Smith.
Jay was a Veteran of the U. S. Army and served in Vietnam. He retired after many years as an industrial supply salesman.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Banther, of McDonald, TN; son, Jeff Gribben, of Chattanooga, TN; stepdaughter, Gloria (Jeff) Plain, of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren; brother, Anthony Smith, of Ooltewah, TN; three sisters, Gale (Bill) Bartles, of Ringgold, GA, Charlotte (Johnny) McComb, Roberta Purdie, of Vinita, OK and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Elder Keith Wiseman officiating.
Interment will follow in Old McDonald Cemetery in Ooltewah, TN.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
