Guinn, Walter (19 MAR 1916 – 29 DEC 1943)

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 4th at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Gilman for Lieut., and Mrs. Walter Guinn and their five-year-old son Jimmie, three members of one family who met death in a trailer house near Denning, N.M., Dec. 29, 1943.

The bodies had been returned to Wisconsin under military escort by Lieut. Richard Fickle, a fellow officer. They lay in state at the Thorp Funeral Home until the time of the funeral conducted by Father W. Kolman at 10:00 a.m. American Legion members of Thorp and Stanley attended the funeral in a body, acting as pallbearers and conferring military honors at the grave.

Lieut. Walter Guinn was born at Hannibal, Wis., on March 19, 1916.

He was united in marriage to Miss Genevieve Kondraszuk at Gilman, Wis., on June 19, 1937, where they resided up to the time of his entering the army.

He leaves to mourn his father, Wm. Guinn of Gilman and one brother, Harry, of St. Paul.

Mrs. Genevieve Kondraszuk (d/o Mary) was born June 23, 1916 at Gilman, Wis.

She graduated from Gilman High School in 1935. Surviving are five brothers, Julius of Racine, John, Frank and Felix of Gilman, and Stanley of San Francisco, Calif.; one sister, Victoria, Mrs. John Kolak of Chicago.

James William Guinn was born in Chippewa Falls on Dec. 10, 1938.
