Mary was the eldest of five children born to Frank Joseph Sr. and Mary (Brosh) Serovy. Her siblings: Frank Joseph Jr., George Wesley, Edward John and Rowena.

On 8 Oct 1907, she married Joseph Paul Dvorsky, son of Joseph F. and Louise (Stebral) Dvorsky. They had four children: Effie Genevieve, Adolph Joseph, Willard John and Victor Ernest.
