Stuart V. "Bow Wow" Berwager, of Camp Hill, entered into God's eternal care Tuesday, March 27, 2012, following a brief illness.

Born January 22, 1918, in Hanover, he was a son of the late Paul E. and Edna Myers Berwager.

He was a 1935 graduate of Eichelberger High School and was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in New Cumberland.

Mr. Berwager served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and retired after 28 years of service from the U.S. Postal Service in Harrisburg. He was a driver for Lincoln Bus Lines of Hanover and enjoyed traveling to different parts of the United States.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #143 in New Cumberland and was a life member of the Hanover VFW Post #2506.

A man who loved the outdoors, Mr. Berwager took great pleasure in bird watching in his back yard and tending to his garden. He enjoyed cooking and was especially fond of sweets. An avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, he appreciated all sports, but was partial to baseball, and coached little league teams in his younger years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 32 years, Beatrice Small Berwager, who died in 1977; his second wife of 28 years, Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Groft Berwager, who died in 2006; a son, Thomas Berwager; and a brother, Mark Berwager.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathleen Berwager of Lemoyne; a granddaughter, Kaitlin Bea McIlwain of Baltimore, MD; and one sister, Joyce Sealover of Hanover.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. March 30, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Rev. Joseph F. Gotwalt serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
