Veda Duncan Ross, 91, of Danville, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Charleston Health Care Center.Born on April 11, 1921, in Oneida, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late William Ezra and Amanda Keaton Duncan. She married her late husband, James D. "J.D." Ross in 1939. Veda, a longtime member of First Baptist Church, was active in the Dorcas Sunday School class and sang in the choir. She was a homemaker and loved cooking for her family, crocheting and embroidery and creating needlework projects.Survivors include two sons, Roger D. (Naomi) Ross of Danville and Gary D. (Connie) Ross of Lexington; four grandchildren, Gary D. (Heidi) Ross Jr., Mark D. (Karen) Ross, Amanda Ross and Tracy (David) Harr; two step-grandchildren, Veronica (Tom) Martin and Benita Lanham; six great-grandchildren, Savannah Ross, Cameron Ross, Jessica Ross, Catherine Ross, Hudson Harr and Emma Ann Harr; eight stepgreat-grandchildren, Phoebe Ross, Griffin Ross, Daniel Crall, Grace Crall, Shelby Ransdell, Chase Ransdell, Peyton Lanham and Brooklyn Lanham; a brother, Tom (Charlene) Duncan, and a niece, Bedouin Dennison, both of Maysville, and four nieces and a nephew. She was predeceased by a grandson, Alan Perry Ross; a brother, Osbourne Duncan; and two sisters, Bernice Duncan and Juanita Goad.The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. The Rev. Dr. Tim Mathis and the Rev. Albert Gisler will officiate. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
