Violet Marie McVay, age 68, of Ashdown, AR left this world on February 25, 2012. Mrs. McVay was born March 12, 1943 in Oak Grove, LA and has lived in Ashdown, AR for the past 43 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, grammy and sister. She was amember of Central Baptist Church in Ashdown and the Arden EH Club, as well as participating in many community activities. Violet was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Viola Eppinette; her father-in-law, Chalmos McVay; four brothers, James Eppinette, Billy Eppinette, Travis Eppinette, and Stanley Eppinette; and her great-grandson, Keagan Altenbaumer.

Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, Sheldon McVay; one daughter, Shelly McVay Walsh and husband Mike; three sons, Michael McVay and wife Kim; Mark McVay and wife Trish; Clayton McVay and wife Gabrielle; mother-in-law, Myrtle McVay; two sisters, Jimmie White and husband June and Barbara Haddock and husband David; three brothers-in-law, Dwain McVay, Keith McVay and wife Joan, and Ricky McVay and wife Melinda; one sister-in-law, Eileen DeCorte and husband Danny; twelve grandchildren, Clay McVay, Patrick Peske, Jessica Altenbaumer and husband Jason, Cody Lewis, Jonathan Walsh, Caitlyn Walsh, Zoie McVay, Logan McVay, Clayton McVay Jr., James Chandler McVay, Sara Kethleen McVay and Chance McVay; two great-grandchildren, Hayden Altenbaumer and Rylan Altenbaumer; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were held at Central Baptist Church in Ashdown on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 10:00 am. Officiating the service was Mrs. McVay's nephew, Alan Eppinette and Ron Chesser. Pall bearers will be Violet's nephews, Heath Eppinette, Owen West, Robert Eppinette, Lance West, Stephen Eppinette, Blake DeCorte and Josh McVay. Honorary pall bearers include nephews, Adam McVay, Donald McVay, Richard "Dickey" McVay, Zachary MNcVay, Morgan McVay, Stanley Eppinette, Audie Eppinette and Kevin Eppinette.
