Samuel Hutcheson was 1st married to Mary Neel, daughter of Thomas and Mary Hamilton Neel. Samuel's father, William gave 80 acres of His 189 acres of land on the Gasper River to Samuel, where Samuel built their family home, an Irish rock house, where Samuel and Mary raised their family.
Mary passed away sometime before Nov. 19, 1834 and was laid to rest in a small family cemetery, behind their rock house. Samuel was remarried on Nov. 19, 1834 in Logan Co., KY. to Mary "Polly" W. Ely. He was buried next to His 1st wife, Mary Neel Hutcheson in their family cemetery, behind their Irish rock house, that no longer is standing today.
