Cora Goodwin
ARCADIA, LA - Funeral services will be held for Cora Mae Bridwell Goodwin, 103, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in the Hurricane Community on March 14, 2009, 2:00 p.m. Rev. Don Woodard will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the church on Saturday. The interment will follow at the Hurricane Cemetery.
Mrs. Goodwin was born March 8, 1906, in Hurricane Community, to Henry Fulton and Mary Martha Holland Bridwell, along with a twin brother who passed at about 1 month of age. She entered into rest March 11, 2009, in Monroe, Louisiana. Mrs. Cora was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, a homemaker, farmer and friend to many throughout her life. In 1998, at age 92, she moved to Monroe, La after a fractured forearm prevented her self-care.
Mrs. Cora is preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom Monroe Goodwin, two sons; Fulton Elbert Goodwin and Thomas Jefferson Goodwin, nine siblings; twin brother Clyde Monroe Bridwell, Stella Austin, Floyd Bridwell, David Jim Wesley Bridwell, Elizabeth B. Northrip Shoat, Florence Beard Carver, Ruth Pace Moliton, Dora B. Gresham and Hattie B. Lee Dale, two sons-in-laws; Minor B. Robinson and Roland C. Roth, Jr., three daughter-in-laws; Gladys Lanell Goodwin, Reathia Goodwin and Joyce Goodwin, two grandsons-in-law; Bill Edmonson and Raul Villafranco, grandson Wes Gordon and by great-grandson Brody Jude.
She is survived by her sons; Marion David Goodwin and wife Jean of New Iberia and Teddy Ober Goodwin of Avondale, four daughters; Grace Alice G. Robinson of Branson, Mo, Susan Ruth G. Ware and husband James of Monroe, La, Yvette Rene G. Roth of Lake of the Pines, Tx and Marie G. Atkins and husband Eugene of Minden, La, by 24 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, 33 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
