Danny Bryne Goodbar, 62, of Goshen, Va., died Wednesday, October 7, 2009 in Rockbridge County.
Born November 10, 1946, in Lexington, he was the son of Beatrice Goodbar and the late Aubrey Montie Goodbar.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and Vietnam Conflict.
He was an avid outdoorsman and well-known logger on the local, state and national level.
He was a charter member of the Appalachian Forest Management Group, member of the Virginia Loggers Association, American Loggers Council, Member of Board of Directors AFMG, served as Chairman of VLA, and represented the VLA as a Board Member of the ALC; he also served as the director of the Natural Bridge Soil and Water Conservation District.
Danny was also a member of the Kerrs Creek Baptist Church and had served as Mayor of Goshen until his health declined.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his companion of 36 years, Bobbie Ann Sibold; brother, Timothy Goodbar Sr., of Lexington; sister, Gail Clark, of Fairfield; three nephews, three nieces and number of great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2009, at Kerrs Creek Baptist Church with the Pastor Seeby Volpe and the Pastor John Haney. Interment followed in the Kerrs Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Goshen Rescue Squad. Visitation was held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Harrison Funeral Home.
