Robert A. Corle, 91, of Williamsport, died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Manor Care in Jersey Shore.

Born Nov. 2, 1920, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Joseph W. and Flora B. Cole Corle

Bob was a Navy veteran of World War II and served on the submarine Flasher as a torpedo man. He served in the Pacific Theater and his submarine received accreditation for sinking a record number of ships. Bob was a fireman in Philadelphia from 1949 to 1965. He also was a truck driver in Williamsport for City Drey Line and New Penn.

Surviving are his children, Joyce, Jane Lee and Frances (James) Lape, all with whom he spent time with at their homes; a sister, Joanne (Bill) Fink of Williamsport; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and two nephews and their children.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Anna M. Corle; and a daughter, Patricia Johnson.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
