Grace A. Dirksen, 78, of Alexander, died on Friday, January 4, 2008, at the Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 7, at the First Reformed Church in Meservey, with Rev. Rodney Meester and Rev. Philip Arnold officiating. Burial was in the Alexander Cemetery.

Grace Arlene, was born on August 17, 1929 in Meservey, the second daughter of George and Alice (Kuhlers) Dirks. She was baptized in and was a member of the Reformed Church. She graduated from the Meservey Schools in 1946. Then she was a secretary for Superintendent Lovell Diddy.

On May 26, 1951, she married Dick R. Dirksen at the parsonage in Meservey. Grace and Dick worked side by side on their farm outside of Alexander and raised four children. Her greatest joys involved cooking, baking, sewing and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Grace is survived by her husband of Alexander; daughters, Marlys Pralle of Latimer and Mavis (Drew) Kragel of Blairsburg; sons, Bruce (Mellissa) Dirksen of Omaha and Brian Dirksen of Latimer; sister, Eiola Kramer of Iowa Falls; brothers, George (Ellen Kay) Dirks of Hampton and Don (Mae) Dirks of Garner; grandchildren, Courtney (Jake) Hansen, Travis Pralle, Whitney Pralle, Stacy (Abbey) Barrick, Jason (Kelly) Barrick, Ryan Barrick, Jozel (Dave) Thorpe, Jerrad Dirksen, Jordan Dirksen, Brett Dirksen and Katie Dirksen; and great-grandchildren, Madison, Andon and Jaelyn Barrick.
