Merced, Oct 7 - The death here last night of Elwell F Bartlett, laborer, brought to five the list of fatalities from the overturning of a construction truck in Yosemite National Park September 23. Bartlett died of internal injuries.
Elwell was in the Maine military in France June 1919.

Elwell Bartlett, one of twelve employees pf the Dennis Construction Company who were riding in a motor truck when the vehicle plunged down a steep grade in the vicinity of Yosemite on Sept 23d, passed away at Mercy Hospital in the city of 5 o'clock Wednesday evening from a fractured skull and internal injuries sustained in the wreck.
Bartlett's is the fifth death resulting from the accident, which occurred when a large truck driven by James Halstead got out of control and raced down the hill finally smashing into an iron drinking stand at the bottom of the grade, hurling its passengers everywhere.
Bartlett was a World War veteran and a member of the American Legion in Northeast Harbor, Maine, where his sister resides.
