Thomas George Kile, Sr. may be the son of James Coile (Kile) a resident of Madison Co., GA. However, Franklin Garrett told Frank W. Salley, Jr. that Thomas Kile Sr.'s father was John and that before spending 2 generations in Sugar Hill that they were in Virginia - QUEENs, SMITHs, and WRIGHTs were also from there.

Thomas married Drucilla Lawrence on 20 Apr 1809 in Jackson Co., GA. They had at least 12 children:

They moved to Gwinnett Co., GA c1818. Their homeplace was in NW Gwinnett Co. near what is now Buford Dam close to Solomon O. Kemp's farm.

"In the 1832 Georgia Gold Land Lottery, Thomas Kile, a resident of Barker's District, Gwinnett County, was the fortunate drawer of a tract of land of 40 acres in the 21st District, 2nd Section, specifically Lot No. 558, in original Cherokee County (before subdivision), which was granted on 21 September 1837. After subdivision, the tract came within the boundary of present-day Cherokee County on the Cherokee-Bartow County line. There was no requirement that the fortunate drawers move onto or cultivate the land."

Thomas was a Farmer per the 1850 Gwinnett Co., GA Census. He was a Pvt. in Hamilton's Company, Gwinnett Co. Militia and on 16 May 1838 the Company was ordered into service - Indian Migration (Trail of Tears 1838-1839).

Thomas is shown with Drucilla and various children in the following Censuses:

- 1820 CENSUS; Gwinnett Co., GA.
- 1830 CENSUS; Gwinnett Co., GA.
- 1840 CENSUS; Gwinnett Co., GA.
- 25 Sep 1850 CENSUS; Sugarhill Dist., Gwinnett Co., GA.

After the death of Drucilla in 1858/59, Thomas is shown in the following Census with his son, Jasper L., daughter-in-law Caroline, and granddaughter Mini.

- 13 Jul 1860 CENSUS; P.O. Carnes, 550th Dist., Gwinnett Co., GA.
