CHARLESTON - Larry Wayne McGinness, 67, of Charleston, passed away at 9:25 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. The funeral service honoring his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at the Caudill-King Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Boaz officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to: New Hope Kickapoo Baptist Church. Larry was born May 9, 1942 in Charleston, son of Richard C. and Evelyn (Irby) McGinness. He married Leslee Lance, January 1964; she preceded him in death, May 16, 2000. Surviving are three sons: Lance (Vicki) McGinness of Champaign, Kevin (Sara) McGinness of Lerna, and Tim (Debbie) McGinness of Charleston; one daughter: Christi McGinness of Springfield; his mother: Evelyn Kemp of Mattoon; brother: Lester McGinness of Westminster, CA; grandchildren: Geoffrey McGinness, Christopher McGinness, Kyrie Williams, Felicia McGinness, and Anastasia McGinness; one great-grandson: George Hodges; special friend: Linda Coleman of Casey; and mother-in-law: Lucille Lance of Olney, also survive. Larry retired as a Captain for the City of Charleston Fire Department. He had also been a school bus driver and was a long time employee of Caudill-King Funeral Home. He was a member of New Hope Kickapoo Baptist Church, Charleston Moose Lodge, Charleston Elks Lodge, and was involved in the Alley Cat Theater for many years. He had also been a Coles County Deputy Coroner.
