Johnny Walter Anders, Jr., a great servant of the Lord passed from this life on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.

He was born June 13, 1921 in Oakwood, Texas to John W. Sr. and Grace Lyons Anders.

Johnny was a member of West Erwin Church of Christ. He attended Morris Harvey College in Virginia, Freed Hardeman College in Tennessee and Abilene Christian College. Johnny was married to Jo E. Murphy of Jacksonville in 1944. He preached the gospel for over 60 years. His love for lost souls was well known as he was there for you in sickness and in health. East Texans remember him for his 15 years as hospital ministry through the Shiloh Road Church of Christ. His work along with his loving wife led him throughout Texas and England. They moved to Tyler in the mid-fifties, preaching the gospel in Pottstown, PA., Ennis, Rockdale, Bullard, Troup, LaPoynor and Frankston.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Noyel Anders; sister, Celia Parker and grandson Nathaniel Terry.

He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 67 years, Jo Anders; son, Don Anders and wife Mary; daughters, Sharon Terry and husband Roy and Susan Nichols and husband Bill; nephew, Ken Murphy; niece, Sheryl Turner and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
